DEI Activities

The ISTH Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee sets the Society’s long-term proactive strategy for fostering diversity, equity and inclusion within the Society. The DEI Committee’s overarching goal is to create an inclusive culture that actively promotes diverse and inclusive representation within all societal activities and works to actively identify and eliminate inequalities within the ISTH (race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age and socioeconomic status).

Session details

Fireside Chat #1: Navigating as a first-generation graduate

This 45-minute session will be an interactive discussion to highlight the experiences, challenges, and resilience of first-generation graduates through candid conversations with graduates, mentors, and allies from diverse backgrounds. Attendees will gain insight into the unique barriers first-generation professionals navigate while exploring mentorship, support pathways, and opportunities to foster a more inclusive and connected ISTH community.

Fireside Chat #2: Parent voices at ISTH: Working parents in research

This fireside chat creates space for working parents in research, clinical practice, and academia to share their stories, challenges, and successes. It spotlights the realities that shape their professional journeys—especially balancing caregiving with lab work, clinical duties, publishing pressures, travel, and career advancement.
