Types of Sessions at ISTH 2026:
-
Plenary Sessions (PL) - Plenary Session speakers are invited to give a presentation that highlights an important topic in the field.
-
State of the Art Sessions (SOA) - Each of these educational sessions has invited speakers who present on various topics using interactive formats.
-
Panel Discussion - During SOA panel discussions, multiple speakers will collaboratively educate through meaningful dialogue.
-
Debate - In SOA debates, experts will present multiple sides of a topic and showcase different perspectives in the field.
-
Case-based - In these sessions, speakers will use real-life clinical cases to educate and inform audiences.
-
Lecture - In these traditional SOA sessions, speakers will deliver didactic sessions in their area of expertise.
-
-
Special Sessions (SS) - These innovative sessions will showcase unique areas of interest that are not often covered in traditional Congress sessions.
-
Oral Communication Sessions (OC) - OC Sessions have five abstract authors present their scientific/original investigative research. Each speaker is allocated 12 minutes to present and 3 minutes for Q&A. These sessions are moderated for time.
-
Expert Insights Sessions (EI) - These are 45-minute educational sessions featuring a 30-minute lecture by a leading expert, followed by 15 minutes of interactive Q&A. These sessions provide a deeper dive into clinical and scientific topics, offering practical applications, a dynamic learning experience, and the chance to engage with recognized leaders in the field. Speakers in particular will stimulate discussion by addressing practical questions during their presentation and providing answers based on their own experience in the field.
-
New Frontier Forum (NFF) - These will feature a dynamic, small-stage experience hosting 15–20 minute lectures highlighting emerging therapies in gene therapy and FXI/XIa inhibition. Each session will include dedicated time for audience Q&A, encouraging interaction and deeper discussion. The Forum will be complemented by online microlearning modules available through the ISTH Academy, allowing participants to continue exploring key topics beyond the live sessions.
-
Poster Sessions (PB) - During these 60-minute, walk-through networking sessions, posters will be hung on large boards with presenters standing by to discuss their work and answer questions. Posters will also be on display for the entirety of the day of their scheduled session.
-
Early Career Session (EC) - This event requires separate pre-registration, and a registration fee. The session lasts 150 minutes and provides a variety of high-quality educational, career-development, and networking opportunities with notable speakers that will cover important topics for early career individuals.
-
SSC Sessions (SSC) - The Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) has over 20 sessions that are incorporated into the Congress. These sessions are devoted to the discussion of diagnostic standards, disease nomenclature and classification, and the latest research on bleeding and thrombotic disorders.
-
Guidance & Guideline Session (GG) - This session is designed for clinicians, researchers, and allied health professionals to provide a highlight of ISTH’s latest guidelines and guidance articles in order to improve patient care.
-
Supported Symposia (S) - Supported Symposia are scientific or educational in nature, offering a platform for in-depth presentations and discussions from ISTH industry partners.
-
Presentation Theaters (PT) - Presentation Theaters are designed to provide industry partners with an opportunity to showcase new research findings, share product information, offer live demonstrations, or raise disease awareness among ISTH Congress delegates.
