AIFA
Official Italian Agency for AIFA Procedure
Any Italian pharmaceutical company supporting or participating in a congress held abroad is subject to authorization by AIFA (the Italian Drug Agency), according to an Italian Government Decree (Decreto Legislativo 219/06 – art. 124). The request for authorization must be submitted at least 60 days before the event's start date.
The appointed agency to collect all applications from pharmaceutical companies and file them with AIFA is:

ATM
There is an ATM located at Pavillon 7. There is also a BNP Paribas bank with an ATM located on the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles campus.

Banks & Foreign Exchange Offices
Credit cards can be used for most purchases, please keep in mind that some places may only accept cash, so plan on bringing cash as well. Bank hours vary but most are open between 09:00-17:00, Monday through Friday, some operate Tuesday-Saturday. Most banks are closed on Sundays and holidays, which includes Bastille Day on Tuesday, July 14.
Bastille Day
Bastille Day, a national holiday in France, is July 14 and falls within the Congress. Please plan accordingly as many businesses will be closed.
Certificates of Attendance
Certificates of attendance will be sent out via email after the Congress.
Climate
The average temperature in Paris in July is between 15°C- 26°C (59°F- 79°F).
CME
Accreditation Statement:
The ISTH 2026 Congress, Paris, France 11/07/2026 - 15/07/2026, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 18.5 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.”
“Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Information on the process to convert EACCME® credit to AMA credit can be found at https://edhub.ama-assn.org/pages/applications.
“Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.”
Information regarding the conversion of EACCME® creditsInformation regarding the conversion of EACCME® credits. Credit will be converted based on one (1) hour of participation equalling one credit for all activities. Physicians wishing to convert EACCME® credits to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ will be required to access the AMA website at https://edhub.ama-assn.org/pages/applications to obtain the necessary paperwork and instructions. Physicians and other health care professionals will be required to pay a processing fee to the AMA.

Coffee Breaks will be available in the Exhibition Hall on Sunday-Tuesday. For more information, please see the schedule section on the app’s homepage.

Currency
The official currency of France is the Euro (€).
Electricity
In France, both Type C and Type E plugs can be used.

Insurance & Liability
It is recommended that participants obtain adequate insurance coverage for travel, health, and accidents before they depart from their countries of residence. The ISTH as organizers cannot accept responsibility for personal injuries or loss of, or damage to private property belonging to conference participants and accompanying persons.
ISTH Hub
The ISTH Hub is located in the Exhibition Hall and includes the ISTH Booth, the DE&I Lounge, Early Career Lounge, and the New Frontier Forum.

Language
The official language of the meeting is English. There will not be any simultaneous translation services provided.
Lunch
Limited light lunches are available in the Exhibit Hall will be served in the exhibition hall Sunday-Tuesday.

Nursing Mother’s Room
The Nursing Mother's Room is located in SALLE 728. If needed, please go to registration to pick up the key for the room.
Networking Event
Join us for an opportunity to meet and network with colleagues from across the globe in the unique setting of the Les Pavillons de Bercy. Enjoy entertainment, food, drinks, and community at this year’s Networking Event in Paris, France!
Attendance at the official ISTH 2026 Networking Event requires registration to the ISTH 2026 Congress. Register for the Congress and networking evening here. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate accompanying guests.
Please note that there is a separate fee of €85 Euro (exclusive of VAT) charged per participant and the Networking Event is only open to registered participants of the Congress.

Phones
As a courtesy to speakers and other participants, all mobile phones and pagers must be switched off when attending Congress or industry sessions.

The Prayer Room is located in SALLE 728. If needed, please go to registration to pick up the key for the room. ​

Registration will be located on 7.1. For registration questions prior to the Congress, please email registration@isth.org. For registration questions onsite we recommend going to the registration desk as emails will have delayed response time.

Smoking
Please note that this is a non-smoking meeting. Smoking is not permitted inside or outside the meeting rooms nor in the exhibition area.

Taxes
Standard value-added tax (VAT) in France is 20%. Some goods and services, such as meals at restaurants, have a lower VAT of 10%. Certain essential goods have a VAT rate of 5.5%.
Time Zone
France is in the Central European Standard (CEST) time zone (GMT+1).
Tipping
Tipping is not required in France but a small tip for great service is appropriate.
